Dr. Austin Eckard
Raised in Southern California, Dr. Eckard discovered a talent for working with his hands at an early age. His passion for problem-solving and commitment to caring for others led him to pursue a career in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Dr. Eckard completed his undergraduate studies in Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. He graduated with honors from the prestigious Harvard School of Dental Medicine, earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine. He continued his training in oral and maxillofacial surgery through the rigorous residency program at Highland Hospital/University of the Pacific, where he met Dr. Ghassemi.
With almost a decade of experience, Dr. Eckard is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. His clinical expertise includes third molar (wisdom tooth) removal, grafting reconstruction, and much more. He’s deeply committed to achieving exceptional outcomes while prioritizing patient comfort at every step.
Outside of the office, Dr. Eckard enjoys spending time with his family and getting outdoors. Patients can trust that they’re in capable, compassionate hands when under Dr. Eckard’s care.
Combining Science, Craft, and Compassion
Dr. Ehssan Ghassemi
A Northern California native, Dr. Ehssan Ghassemi brings a strong academic foundation and refined surgical expertise to Icon Oral Surgery. His interest in oral and maxillofacial surgery was shaped early by advanced training in bone biology and reconstruction, laying the groundwork for a career focused on precision, innovation, and comprehensive patient care.
Dr. Ghassemi earned his dental degree (DMD) along with a Master of Science (MS), graduating on the Dean’s List at Western University of Health Sciences. He went on to complete his rigorous oral and maxillofacial surgery residency through the Highland Hospital/University of the Pacific program, where he received broad-based training managing complex oral and maxillofacial conditions.
During his residency, Dr. Ghassemi treated a wide spectrum of cases across multiple hospital systems, including Highland Hospital, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, and Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center. This experience provided extensive exposure to facial trauma, pathology, infections, dentoalveolar surgery, and advanced reconstructive procedures.
Dr. Ghassemi is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. His clinical interests include dental implants, bone grafting, sinus augmentation, and impacted wisdom teeth removal, with a particular focus on restoring function, comfort, and long-term outcomes for his patients.
When not in surgery, Dr. Ghassemi enjoys spending time exploring the outdoors with friends and family. Patients appreciate his calm demeanor, thoughtful approach, and meticulous attention to detail, qualities that help create a reassuring and personalized surgical experience.
